Eight families are seeking justice.

— Some murders go unsolved and killers slip through the cracks. Time passes and families of the victims lose hope, but the families never forget and the detectives never give up. 

The following cases have been profiled in the past but they are still under investigation:C

Katelyn Markham disappeared from her home in Fairfield in August 2011.

Katelyn Markham disappeared from her home in Fairfield in August of 2011. Then in April, 2013, skeletal remains were found in a remote area in Cedar Grove, Indiana. Within days, the confirmation came that the remains were Markham’s and her death was ruled a homicide. However, the exact cause of death could not be determined. On November 1, 1999, just after 9 p.m., off-duty Dayton Police Officer Kevin Brame parked his car in the driveway and returned his two small children to their home. As he returned to his car, an unknown assailant emerged from a row of hedges near the house and shot him.

As Kevin returned to his car, an unknown assailant emerged from a row of hedges near the house and shot him. Kevin was ambushed and never had a chance to defend himself. Linda Dearth, a 13-year-old Northmont Junior High School Student, was found dead by her older brother just before noon in the living room of the family home near Brookville.

School was closed on January 25, 1973 and that was the only reason Linda Dearth was home that day. On May 16, 1994, Arthur Works and Raymond Ogle were shot to death while working at JR Motor Sales on West Third St. in Dayton.

The body of Martha Oelman, the daughter of former NCR Chairman, Robert Schantz Oelman, was found in the family cabin near Bellbrook in September of 1997.

In January of 1973, 12-year old Marvin Beau King was reported missing from his mobile home in Clark County. One day later, an anonymous caller reported to the Springfield News Sun, that a body could be found in a field near the intersection of Springfield-Xenia Rd. at Rebert Pike. Clark County Sheriff’s deputies search the area and found the body of the young boy. He had been strangled.
